COURSE:  HIS-201: Church History

COURSE DESCRIPTION

HIS 201 is a study of the church’s history, focusing on its historical development to modern times. Students also analyze Christian doctrine, purpose, function, significant spiritual leaders, spiritual formation, orthodoxy, and its character and witness.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:

 

  1. Describe the historical trajectory of the church.

  2. Detail the basics of Christian doctrine.

  3. Describe the purpose, function, character and witness of the historical and modern church.

  4. Analyze the modern church in relation to its historical development.

  5. Identify significant spiritual leaders who have impacted the growth of the church

  6. Explain the historical and socio-cultural development of the church.
