We Are The Masterpiece of God

Human beings are God’s handiwork (Eph.2:10). They are the artistry work of God-- the ultimate Craftsman of the universe. He created them, man and woman in His own image (Gen.1:27). Human beings are the only ones to take after the character and personality of God. They are created higher than all that which were created. He fearfully and wonderfully knitted each person (Ps.139:13-14). God created Adam and Eve with His own hand from clay. He knitted King David in his mother’s womb. God molds each person as a potter molds his clay pots (Isaiah 64:8). God purposed the shape and size of each person to His purpose. He created them perfectly in His eyes. Human beings are God’s Masterpiece!
As Christians we do not reject this teaching, but many of us don’t think much about the implications of it. Today, I want to focus on one implication that should change how we live our Christian lives, that is what does it means to live our lives by the true value that derives from our Creator.
Our identity is much higher than the body we see in the mirror, the family and friends that we have in our lives, the monthly income we bring home or the prizes we receive from society. Our value comes from God, our Craftsman, not anyone else.
Therefore, it is wrong for us to devalue our worth based on our look, our status, our education or our wealth. It is against God to put ourselves down when we are not equal to others. When we belittle ourselves, we only echo the voice of our enemy that we are no good, that we are nothing, that we are not worth living. Overlooking the value that God has set upon us will only lead us down the self petty; self-destructive road. Self-destructive personalities not only bring harm to us but to others around us.
Debasing ourselves makes us debase others as well. All humans are created with equal value before God and have the right to be treated with dignity and fairness. But when we belittle people, we categorize them and become overly judgmental of them. We play favoritism; we take advantage of weaker people. We know well that God requires us to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God. But this sin of devaluing the image of God is happening at a personal level, within our family circle and inside our Christian community.
Awake, Christian women, let us pray for God to open our spiritual eyes to see that we are God’s masterpiece. God has installed on us the highest value of all creation. Let us focus on living our lives around that God-given value instead of chasing after the wind of temporally gain like people who do not know their Creator. When we know our true value, we will discover that life is much happier and more fulfilling.
Thank you and may God bless all of us who are a part of the masterpiece of God!

Living with stage 3 kidney disease means I'm always on the lookout for ways to protect my remaining function. My nephrologist briefly mentioned Klotho, a protein that is often low in kidney patients. I wanted to learn more, so I read a detailed article at https://ways2well.com/blog/what-is-klotho-benefits-and-side-effects-you-need-to-know. It explained that low Klotho levels can precede kidney problems and are linked to cardiovascular complications. On the flip side, excessively high levels could be toxic, emphasizing the need for balance. Armed with this knowledge, I finally feel empowered to have a more informed conversation with my doctor about my long-term plan.
